DISASTERS AT SEA.
AMERICAN STEAMER WRECKED., By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyrtelt Vancouver, July 7. The steamer Santa Kosa, a vessel of 2117 tons gross belonging to tho Pacific Coast Steamship Company, is aground with 290 passengers aboard. : All the passengers aro safe. . There was a panic when the vessel struck, and many women and children wanted to jump overboard. (Rec. July 9, 5.5 p.m.) New York, July 8. The second officer and three of the crew of -ho wrecked steamer Santa Rosa were drowned in attempting lo put n line ashore. The passengers wero rescued. The vessel will probably be a total wreck. (Rec. July 10, 0.25 a.m.) New York, July 9. It is reported that fourteen sailors lost their lives in attempting to get ashore from the wreck of tho Santa Kosa. AN OVERDUE SCHOONER. Adelaide, July 8. Fears are entertained for the safoty of the American four-masted schooner Espada, now 136 days out from Gray's Harbour, Washington, to Adelaide, tim-ber-laden. Apprehension has been increased since the recent washing ashoro of timber at Lord Howe Island.
