HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) « Successful anniversary services in connection with St. David's Church, Petone, wore held yesterday. The morning service was taken by t'he Rev. W. Shirer, tho afternoon service by t,he Rev. G. Cotton, and the Rev. J. 11. Jupp. occupied the pulpit in the evening. Special hymns and anthems were rendered by the choir, assisted by tho children. Despite the wet weather the attendances wero good throughout the day. At St. Augustine's Church, I'etone, last night, tho Bishop of Wellington (Dr. Sprott) licensed the Rev. G. D. Stephenson, who is tho Rev. J. D. Russell's successor as vicar of tho parish. Mr. and Mrs. I , '. 0. Hesse leave for ■Australia next week. A presentation was made by tho local Methodist Church, of which they have been members for the past eight years. .
