GIRLS ON STRIKE.

TWO ARBITRATORS: THEIR i'INJMNG. IBy Tclccraph—Prc?e Association.! Duncdin, July 9. The two arbitrators, the Mayor and (ho lion. J. T. I'uul, who were appointed to settle the dispute which resulted in a strike, at the iioslyn woollen mills, fat from 10 o'clock on Saturday morning until 10 o'clock that night, and nfter i ail exhaustive inquiry, announced their fludii'j; as follows:— "Having been asked to arbitrate on the, causes which induced a number of girls to leave their employment at tho Hoslyn woollen mills, we find as follows:—In tho first place the arbitrators have been mmlo aware of suggestions of immorality against several persons No direct charges havo been mode against any person or persons, but the arbitrators have mndo most careful inquiries into tho matter. There have certainly been indiscretions committed which, in measure, have Riven rise to some of the suspicions, but we arc emphatic in stating that we find no evidence of personal misconduct on the part of any person employed at' the mills, "The causes leading up'to a largo number of girls leaving the mills arc chiefly: (1) Personal objection to certain workers, and (2) a sincere belief in the existence of favouritism. Tho lirst cause is shown to have been bnsed on a chain of circum-L-tantial evidence which has appeared to Hip majority of the workers to bo (he correct conclusion from such evidence. The second cause was bared on facts and doubtless any suggestions of favouritism will ba eliminated in future. "Wo are of opinion, therefore, that in view (if (lip.se circumstances, and from the poiiit of view of Che disaffected workers, there was justification tor the attitude assumed l>y them. Taking all surroundings into consideration wo recqiiimend that for the purpose of rcMoring harmonv in the mills, some new posit'ion should he found for (lie workers to whom personal objection has been tuken, as it is unfair that any worker should bo denied employment unless some sneciiie, fault has been proved against himself or herself." The decision was communicated to ft large majority of tho strikers shortly after 10 p.m., and it was favourably received. They will meet again on Honday morning when the finding of the arbitrators and the decision of (lip management in regard (hereto will be jointly aud to--1 ally considered.
