METHODIST BIBLE UNION.
The Wellington District Toimg Men's Methodist Bible Class Union held the second of a series of monthly meetings of their winter programme last night, when a visit was made to the WY.M.I., at Petone. About thirty of the city members were taken out in brakes. The meeting took the form of a debate on the question, "Should Great Britain Become a Republic?" There was a fairly Jarge audience present, and Mr. R. W. W ater-liou-e, the president of the union, occupied the chair. The case for the affirmative was placed before the audione-e by Me=srs. C. Ayres, and H. W. Godier fTrinity Class), and, for the negative, Messrs. J. fiaine and P. JC. Clark were tho Speakers. The contest was. very keen, the' matter being both interesting and instructive. On the vote being put to the mte f ing, first on the question and second on the debate, the chairman declared a majority vote in favour of the monarchy, and also for the speakers for the negative At the close of the meeting those present were, provided with refreshments through the hospitality of the I'etouo friends.
