ROSE AND CARNATION CLUB.

Mr. C. W. Tringham (president) occupied the chair at the annual meeting of tho Wellington Kose and Carnation Club. The annual report stated that tho spring show, held on .November 16, was well up to the standard of previous years. There were numerous entries from the best growers of the district, the competition was keen, and tho public responded with excellent attendances. On this occasion a. new departure was made in holding the summer show in December instead of January, and the result fully justified the action of the committee. At the spring show tho ladies' trophy, donated last year, was again won bv Mrs. Gore, and thus becomes that lady's absolute property. For the second time, Mrs. J. (i. Wilson won the Prime Minister's rose bowl trophy. The spring show of the coming year will be held on November 10th, and the summer show ou December 13.

The balance-sheet showed an excess of assets over liabilities of ,£SB 3s.

Luke, and Messrs. ,H. A. Fox, G. Remington, C. Trcvet.iiick, anil W. Burke; management committee, Messrs. AY. 3. Thompson, Hood, W. A. Bead, Korslake. A. Richards, J. (I. H. Lord, and If. Bnillie; treasurer, Mr. G. l ellrey; auditor, Mr. C. H. Matthews; sscreitory, Mr. F. Ashbolt.

The chairman moved to amend Rule G to provide that the members' should be divided into "special" and "ordinary" members. This the mover explained would onconrnge those persons to join who did not engage actively in the cultivation of rose-s and carnations.
