Tudor, Federal Minister of Customs, who is endeavouring to- fettle tho 6ugar strike,, \yas, requested ( to., re-, turn, in iho shape of bounty, the whole of the ,£4 a ton excise duty, instead of £3 as at I '' ('■ ' Mr. Tudcr asked, if ho did so, would the rnon's demands, which seemed reasonable, bo granted. Voices: "Not all of them." Mr. Tudor: "Then tho request will not bo granted." Ho also remarked that an industry that was not ablo to pay living wagos to all concerned was 'not worth protecting to the extent of 50 pcf cent. , Tho Minister suggested a conference between tho workers, growers, and manufacturers. •
