WELLINGTON SHAREMARKET.

Although only onc-falc was recorded yesterday, the market displnyed a. very firm tendency. The "shorts" are reported to bo in troubled waters over Waihis and New Sylvias, but more particularly tho former. Delivery of scrip has been delayed out of all reason, and the pressuro has commenced. Those who hold the scrip can make a little money now by lending same, but care must bo taken to sec that the scrip is lent to those who can carry out their contracts for return of same. Xcw Sylvias were, firm, and sold up to 3s. sd. with further buyers at -the price. Some punters sold in anticipation of a fall ow-" ing to-.the "probability of another' call, which now scorns unlikely to be made.
