THE HEPPLE FUND.
A well-attended meeting of IYtono citizens,'convened by Iho Mayor (Sir. J. Wl M'Ewan), was held lust evening to consider taking steps to promote the Hepplo Kclicf Fund. Many oilers of assiitanco »'« received, mid the following resolution v;os passed. "Tli-it a committee bo formed to organise- ail entertainment in conjunction with the Mascollc Picture Company, and do all that they can to assist; that subscription lists be issued lo various collccluis; that children attending the schools in Pelono 1)0 invited (o contribute a penny each; (hat the promoters of the operetta 'Cinderella' bo asked to repeat the performance at tho Palace Theatre in aid of the fund; and that lady collectors be appointed to canvass for'donations ,')t to-day's football match between 'Pei.ono and St. James." A strong committee was formed to execute these proposals. It is also intended to appoint trustees to administer thu funds. Wo have to acknowledge a number of additional subscriptions to tho fund being raised for the relief of Mrs. Hepplo and her young family t$ their distress occasioned by the loss &L 'be father and two sons.
