UNBURIED CORPSE.
* A FORTNIGHT IN THE MORGUE. tßy Telegraph-Press Association.! Christchurch, Juno 30. Tho Hospital authorities observe a closo reticence regarding tho ease in which a body remained unburicd for nearly a fortnight, but tho facts are being gradually elicited. The patient, who was named John Wilson, and was 59 years of age, died from phthisis on June 11. The body was sent to the morgue in the Hospital" grounds, and at the same timo tho patient's card, endorsed "Dead," was forwarded to the Hospital office. At the office tho card appears to have been filed at once. The death was registered, but tho undertaker was not informed, nnd no arrangements woro made for burial. No friends inquired for Wilson, and tho body lay forgotten in tho morgue until June 21. Arrangements were then mado for the burial, which took place on Juno 23. This is the position so far as can be ascertained, Tho Hospital Committee will consider the case next week, and in the meantime the authorities decline to make a statement.
