SINGAPORE TRAGEDY.
—: ♦ MRS. PEOUDLOCK APPEALS FOR MERCY. By Telecrapb—Press Association—Copyricbt (Rec. June 29, 9.40 p.m.) Singapore, Juno 29. Mrs. Proudlock, wife of tho headmaster of tho Victoria Institution at Kualalumpur, who was found guilty of murdering Mr. Steward, reiterates her innocence, and states that sho is unable to bear tho horror nnd suspense of a second trial, and withdraws her nppenl. Sho asks the Sultana, of Selanga to havo pity on her sufferings and pardon her.
Mr. W. Steward was manager of the Salak tin-iuiucs until a short time before he was killed. Mrs. Proudlock's story was that sho was aloue in her house when Steward make violent advances to her. She took a revolver and fired sevoral shots at him.
