Shortly aitcr 6 p.m. yesterday the Union Company's R.M.S. Maitai left Wellington for San Francisco, via Auckland, Rajotonga, and Papeete. She is duo to leave the northern port on Saturday next, and arrives at San Francisco on July 21. SOLD TO TT.S.S. CO.' • The voyage to Sydney and then back td a New Zealand port from Newcastle which the well-known barque Casablanca is now engaged upon, will in all probability bo her last. Sho hap, it is said, been purchased by the Union S.S. Company, Ltd., and, like a number of vessels purchased by tho samo company rerently, will bo converted into n coal hulk. Tho Caeablanca, is ono of the oldest vessels engaged in tho Australia-New Zealand trade, having been built at Liverpool as far back as 1868 by Messrs. T. Hoyden and Sons. She is of 569 tons net and 601 tons gross register and constructed of iron. TURAKINA FOR LONDON TO-DAY. Turakina, R.M.S., is to leave tho Glasgow Wharf, Wellington, for London, via way ports, at noon to-day. WARRIMOO FROM SYDNEY. Later than usual, t.lijs week's direct boat from Sydney to Wellington-tlio Warrimoo— arrived at an anchoragc in the stream. Tho New South Wales port- was left at 2 p.m. on Saturday last, and the weather experienced until the morning of Juno 26 was light and variable winds with slight following seas. On approaching the Now Zealand coast strong head winds and rough sea 6 were met with, right up till port was made at 3.25 p.m. Anhour later the Warrimoo berthed at tho Queon'a Wharf No. 1 south to land passengers and discharge cargo. At 1 a.m. on Juno 26 the steamer Mocraki was passed, bound west.

Imports by the Warrimoo are as follow:—20 drums gas oil, 198 bars lead, 3CO sacks manure, 160 boxes lard, 08 packages apricots, 143 eacks pollard, 120 bags rice, 350 cases soap, 1559 cases frui-t. Transhipments ex the following vessels also came to hand:—St. Albans, Ha mm, Bombala, Wyreetna, Ccnina, Ilaran, Sangola, Orsova, Corio, and Marmotli. In continuation of her running, the Warrimoo leaves port for Melbourne, via southern ports and Hobart, at 5 p.m. to-day.

Up till yesterday tho local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company had received no word concerning the arrival of It.M.S. Tongariro at Hobart from London. Consequently it will be Saturday or Sunday before she shows up at Wellington.

Komata, s.s., left Wellington for Westport last night. She returns with a load of coal for ilio local branch of the Westpart Coal Company.

Another of the Clan Lino of steamers w about to visit New Zealand. On this occasion it is the Clan Ogiivy, 2641 tons, ami she lias been chartered to load jarrali timber at Jimibury for New Zealand porta. To-day the Scales chartered steamer Clan Murlnrvn is expected to leavo Lyttelton for Auckland, en route for Australian ports Tiiul London. At. the southern port, the vessel loaded between 1200 and 1300 bale? of wool and 150 casks of pelts. A transhipment of BCO bales of wool from Timaru has also been loaded. At 4 p.m. yestrrday the British Imperial Oil Company's chartered steamer John llardie finished discharge of the Wellington portion of her cargo of case oil, and sailed for Lyttelton and Duncdin. It.U.S. Pioneer will return to Wellington from Nelson and the Sounds about July 9. She remains in port, until the end of the month, at which time she proceeds to Lyttclton.

Mr. T. B. Walker, purser of tlio -Wairuna, has signed off the vessel. Captain M'Qucen, of the A. and A. Line's chartered steamer Mirairo, left the vessel at Cape Town this trip on account of illness. The chief otllcer (Mr. Sherrington) is now in command. Mr. Evans, late assistant-purser of the Warrinion, left the vessel this trip at Sydney to join the Kakapo a:> purser. Jlr. Bernard, of the Sydney offico of tho Union Company, is acting-aK-ietanUpurser in lile •stead. Consignees of cargo by the Union Company's steamers leaving Wellington for Sydney on Fridays are requested to note that no cargo will be received alongside for shipment after 3 p.m. on sailing day. The Navua- is to leave port for .Westport this morning. 11.M.5. Cambrian took her departure from the stream for Auckland, via Cape Rcinga, yesterday morning. Tho magisterial inquiry into the recent stranding of the burquontlno Pelotas has been postponed from to-morrow till Saturday.

Mr. A. Lewis, late chief engineer of the Manuka, has taken tho position of superintendent- engineer of the U.S.S. Co., in Sydney. Mr. F. C. Ronalds. late Ilauroto, has filled the vacancy on the Manuka.

An expected arrival at Wellington from Montreal, via way ports, on July 6 is the New Zealand Shipping Company's chartered steamer Ascot.

Telegraphic advice received from Brisbane yesterday announced the arrival of the Star of Scotland from Wellington.

It will take about 12 days to complete tho installation of the nimi-tangi's refrigerating plant. The vessel then leaves Wellington for the Chatham Islands, via Lytr telton.
