♦ SCHOOL BUILDINGS AND FIRE RISKS. Christchurch, June '28. The question of insuring school buildings, used for purposes of amusement, was considered recently by (lie Buildings Committee of (ho Education Board, and tho committee at to-day's meeting recommended the board to require committees to insure against (ire when schools arc used for' tile purposes of amusement and entertainment, such as picture shows, dances, sales of work, and also concerts other than those promoted by the committee for school purposes. A draft of ft circular to committees dealing with the matter was read and approved. The board adopted the report. ANGLICAN SYNOD. Dunedin, Juno 28. At the meeting of tho Anglican Synod to-night a motion "that it is in tho best nterest of tho community as a whole that the totalis,itor he abolished" was lost on the voiccs. A motion was passed urging the Government to give effect to tho NewZealand University Senate's motion iu favour of tho establishment of a faculty of theology and conferring degrees in divinity. t
