MR. TREGEAR'S VISIT.
» — LABOUR IN AUSTRALIA. Among the passengers by tho Warrimoo from Sydney yesterday was Mr. D. Tregear, ex-Secretary for Labour in New Zealand. After a so\ oil-weeks' visit to tho chief Australian cities, ilr. Tregear has come back improved ill health, and impressed with the immtnso future possibilities of our big neighbour. Mr. Tregear first ivont to Now South Wales, wliero he received a very hearty wol ; come, both from tin-representatives of tho Legislature ami tho Labour people, in whoso cause Mr. Tregear has spent most of his life. In Victoria, also, ho -was very kindly treated. At Melbourne,: in tho Gaiety Theatre, ho addressed a gathering of 2000 people. "New Soulh Wales," added 111'. Tregear, "is in the full tide of its prosperity now. At present everyone is- waiting to see what the Labour Government will do. I was tliero during tho Parliamentary session, and 1 attended a great many times, especially when 111'. The general feeling in Australia, as far as Mr. Tregear could judse, was that tho country would sivo tho Labour Government a chance to see what it could achieve. Mr. Tregear had a liltlo tima with Mr. Ilughcs (the Acting-Federal Prime Minister) and Mr. Wntt (tho Victoiian Prime Minster). In reply to a question, Mr. Tregear said he was not going to tho Old Country. He declined to state whether ho intended standing as a candidate for tho New Zealand Parliament,
