Sergeant-Major Morrison, officer in charge of tho compulsory training section in tho 'Feilding area, has received a few lato applications for enrolment, and the total lor the area is.now up to 801._' Excellent support has been promised for tho veterinary class whioh is to be conducted by Mr. Quinnell at the Feilding Technical School, and which will open probably in a fortnight. ; Mr. N.. Dannefaerd, of the Soldiers' Home, Toona, India, will give a lantern lecturo in -St. Paul's Hall this evening. . A start is to be made next Wednesday evening with tho elasa-for .first aid..an'd. ambulanco at t'ho -Technical .School. Fairly good promises of support havo been made, and it is likely that the class will bo n successful one. MASTERTON. The E«vv Williani Baine, who is leaving Masterton to take up mission work in "connection with tho Anglican Church in Wellington, preached his farewell sermons in St. Matthew's Church yesterday. Tho weather during the past, week has boon characteristic of winter, and farming operations havo been practically suspended. •'-. FEATHERSTON. The weather was fine for the Coronation celebrations here. • A large number attended the religious service, and the costume football match attracted many spectators. At tho dance held in tho Town Hall in tho evening thero were nearly 300 present. The Kimutaka Road is at present impassable for other than foot traffic through a slip on tho Wellington side of tie Summit. '
