ST. JOHN'S AMBULANCE.
ANNUAL KEPOKTS. During the past soasiu (says the annual report of the General Committee oi the Wellington branch of the St. John Ambulance Association) a satisfactory number of students took the coarse oi instruction in first aid and home nursing, the total number being 467, of whica 218 were men and 219 were women. Ot tho*e 181 men and 120 women passed the subsequent examination. In audition to Wellington, classes were held at Hastings, llawcra, .Unit, Levin, Jlasterton, Otanc, I'almerstoii North, and Napier. This should now be the main object, of the association. For this purpose there is a sum of «Cl5O in hand. The chief secretary of the- association has intimated Ins desire that this centre should have a headquarters buildi.ig as early as possible. Its rcalisiiim 'fill be of lasting benefit to the general public The past year has been very successful in mr.-av respects (says the annual report of" the Wellington Brigade). The membership shows an increase of five, and three membe.-s have been added to the reserve. The attendance of the members during the year has been highly satisfactory, seve'-al of them attending football matches throughout the season, also raco meetings at Miramar. Sixty cases were attended to by members, besides thirty by tiio members of the late Y.M.C.A. division, the greater part ot these taking place on tlvs football and hockey fields. A competition among the local 'divisions was hell in June, and a pound comprisiiiK Privates Miller, Dixon, Hislop and Sehulenburg proved be the 'winrors. Six squads competed. Thoro is a credit balance of W. 19s. Gd. It is satisfactory to record the formation of a corns in Wellington, comprising the city and suburban divisions
