FOR THE SUEZ MAIL.
Tho Wellington Chamber of Commerce recently issued a circular to kindred Chambers suggesting Ut-ir support' in making Wellington tho point ol distribution lor tho. weekly English mail via Sue?, instead of Auckland as at present. Tho circular points out that if on nrrangcmeit could bo. ina'do whereby tho steamer could leave Sydney direct for Wellington on tho day it arrives there— Monday-the whole Dominicn would benefit as against tho present time-table. Even Auckland would raeivo its share of tho mail two days earlier I'jan it docs at present, and Wellington at least (hroo. Appended nro some of the replies wiiich have bwii rewind:—
Tho secretary of the Oamaru Chamber writes:—"l have to thank you for your circular letter of 14th iust., enclosing newspaper cuttings dealing with (lie suggestion that Wellington shoild bo made, (he distributing port for inward G mails. Tho committee of this Chamber wish mo to write you in loply to tho effect that in any such nnnngrincnh you are endeavouring to have carried out you have its entire support and sympathy." Tho secretary of the South Canterbury (Timaru) Chamber says:—"l am directed to inform yoi that this Cliamlxr heartily supports, and is wholly in accord witli, (he suggest) m contained in your chcular."
The Stratford Chamber passed a resolution heartily endorsing tho views of the Wellington Chamber The Nelson Chamber unanimously resolved: "That this Cliamlx-r strongly endorses the action of the Wellington Chamber in this matter, and trusts they will bo suewssful in their endeavours." The Napter ami Marten Chambers have replied acknowledging the circular, and stating that it will be considered in due -COUM.O-
