A public meeting of tho Wellington East No-License.League was held in the Hoseneath Schoolroom last evening, Tho speaker was the l!cv. A. Hewdney, who gave a spirited address on the i-vils of the present liquor tratlic. He stated (hat alcohol .was undermining our national growth, and, as it was in no way a necessity, it should bo abolished. By quotations from books, compiled by some of the leading medical authorities in Britain and the Continent, he sought to show tho influence which alcohol exercised both on mind and body. Reference was also made to what the speaker termed the injustice of tho present three-fifths majority. At the conclusion, the chairman, Mr. J. Smith, thanked Mr. Dowdney, and moved a vote of thanks. The Brooklyn Glee Club contributed-several musical numbers. _____„___
