High northerly and westerly winds and squally and showery weather have prevailed, with rivers flooded on tho West Coast. Present indications aro for westerly winds, strong to a heavy gale, and veering to southerly shortly. Cold and stormy weather probable generally, heavy rain in most parts of tho country, snow in tho south and on higher levels.
