BRIGADIER BRAY.
■ —4$ ' A NEW ZEALAXDER IN LONDON. "Brigadier Bray, of Hid Salvation. Army, has (-;ays the London "Social Gazette') almost a unique record of work. His service diUcs back to the time of the beginnings of our Social efforts in Australia. Ho was the right-hand man of the late (Jolonel Marker; also the pioneer of our Hoys' Kctormatory work, and the iirst officer in charge of our famous Bayswater Hoys' Colony. Jlis wide experience makes him almost an expert sociologist, and the Government ohicials of the various States ot Australia.and the Dominion of New Zealand gladly accept his assistance and advice. At present the brigadier is attached to New Zealand, where ho enjoys to the full the confidence of the Government, as is evidenced by the extent to. which lie has permission to visit and inspect every prison in the country, and to make an independent report to the responsible Minister on what he sees. The stories the brigadier has to tell of his life amongst criminals and convicts would of themselves make one of the most thrilling books that could, be published. But with it all, onr comrade remains the simple servant of tho Salvation Army, and keeps, his heart tender towards the man or boy who is 'down tinder.' In nil his work ho is greatly helped by his devoted, wife, the boys' 'mother,' as she is'known in Australia.''
