NEW FRUIT REGULATIONS.
RELAXATION REPORTED.. Owing to the restrictions hitherto imposed in New Zealand upon the importation of fruit from Australia, tho export of oTanges, particularly, has recently been small. It is understood, now that representations made by the Now South Wales 'Department of Agriculture have had some measure of success, and that new regulations have been framed by the NewZealand Department, the new, regulations will throw responsibility on exporters and shippers who will have to prove their bona-fitles in regard to frnit having como from orchards carrying a certificate of inspection from the local fruit inspector. The greatest trouble has been in regard to the "one mile radius." It is held, in New South Wales, to be practically impossible for inspector's there to give a certificate not onlv that the fruit, came from a clean orchard, but th.it no orchard within a mile radius was infected, this regulation, it is believed, will be modihed to a very great extent.
