CYCLING.

$ DU.NXOP CHRTSTCHURCH-TniARU ROAD RACE, 1911. The arrangements for the running of the Dunlop Christchurch-Tininru Road R»acfi for cyclists, which is promoted this year by the Diuilop Rubber Company of Australasia, Ltd., are well in hand. The energy and enthusiasm which characterised the firm's efforts in past years are again in evidence, and there is every indication of tho event reviving the interest, in, and giving a great impetus to, this sport. Tho decision to start the race from Christenurch and finish at Timaru has been received with approval by cyclists and the public generally. The first prize will be Mt> cash, and the prize for tho fastest time .£25, with a JES ss. gold medal. These are donated by the company, tho latter provisionally on the winner competing' in the Melbourne-IVarrnambool Road Race, the probable date of the Australian contest being October U next. The date fixed for the race is Thursday, September 7, the day chosen offering better facilities for tlie return journey to riders completing the course, than could be formerly obtained. The race will be rnn in accordance with the rules of the New Zealand Athletic and-Cycling Union. With the reversal of the route, the chancing of the day and the consequent advantages to riders, together with a splendid list of prizes (particulars of which will be published shortlv), there is cverv indication that the entries this year will be a record, and the race an unprecedented success. The record number of road races held throughout the "Dominion this season is-evidence of the revival of this sport.
