BRITISH CENSUS.
THREE AND A QUARTER MILLION INCREASE. By Telegraph—Fress Association-Conyrieht London, June 16. Census returns show the population of tho United Kingdom to bo 45,216,065, as against 41,970,827, an increase of 3,239,838 since the census of 1901. There are 17,418,401 males and 18,026,793. females in England and Wales. . Tho loss by emigration during the last decade was 497,496 persons. NEW SOUTH WALES DISAPPOINTED. Sydney, Juno 17. The census indicates that tho population of Now South Wales is nearly 20,0(10 less than the statistician's estimate. Mr. Carmichacl (Assistant-Minister for Agriculture) thinks tho census is incomplete.
