The magisterial inquiry into tho circumstances surrounding, tho recent collision on the Jlaiuuvatu liiver between the steamers Himitangi and Wairau will open at the Magistrate's Court at 10 a.m. on Holiday, June 2G, and will bs presided over by Dr. A. JPArlluir, S.M. Captains C. Post and P. Black have been appointed assessors. Messrs. Pindlay,' Dalzicll and Co. have been retained for I'll* owners ol the Himitangi, Messrs. On Sunday, June 18, Mr. R. Coupland Hiirding,"'of ( Wellington, completes his fitly years as printer and journalist in this country. On Juno IS, 1801, ho was bound apprentice to the "Hawkc's Bay Times," the first daily paper to be printed between Wellington and Auckland, and remained with that paper until 1871. Mr. Harding has now been a resident of Wellington for many years.
