A MISSIONARY' RALLY. "Do «;e love Jesus Christ?" That =nid the chairman (the Rev. Dr. Gibb) in hi" address to the Presbyterian Missionary Kally held in St. John's Church Inst evening, summed up evervthin", when it was a question of the duty of the Christian peoples towards missionaries in heathen lands. That duty, he emphasised was not to be measured- in the lHit of he more or less spasmodic contributions to missionary funds, but rather as the result of a- wellin ? -np o f the missionary If 1 " 1 ,. , born of the great love of the Heart that was broken for them on Calvary. Africa, China, India needed the faospel ot Jesus Christ, auil thu qneslion was: Should they respond to .the call ct the heathen- Some urged that the Gospel should be spread for 'commercial reasons, others for patriotic reasons, nnd still others in the interests of broad humanitarianism. No doubt all were right "i 5 "? y, i^V 1 ' H was the ""Polling Fove of the Lord Jesus Christ which told them that .hey simply must, go out and tell tho world the great things Christ had done for their own souls. The other speakers at last evenings rally were Mrs. Kaye, who spoke on "T-Tie Home Base of Missions," Rev. i T Thompson, 8.A., who gave an interesting account and some impressions of the Worlds _ Missionary Conference, and Mr A. P. AVebster, who spoke of the Laymen s Missionary Movement. During the evening delegate.? delivered messages from Napier, Auckland. Woodville, Palmerston North, and Feildini* Irom 7.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mr. Barnett gave a much-appreciated organ
