' Torgut Shevket Pasha, commanding the Turkish expedition in Albania, reports that the Albanian campaign has ended, and some of the insurgents have been driven into Montenegro, and others are hemmed in between the River Sem and the border. Tho Turkish troops are, he says, avoiding further conflict. It is hoped an amnesty will be proclaimed.

; Mr. F. Faithful Begg, Sir A. Williameon, Mr. W. C. Slaughter, Mr. F. W. Turner (of the Scottish Australian Investment Societv), Mr. Henry Joslin (South Australian Comnany), and Sir Montague Nelson voiced the objections to tho tax.

Mr. Fishsr said the tax had been imposed in the interests of the Anstralian people, there being evidences that develonment hafl b?en retarded owing to ln.nd being held for speculative purrees. If there were any anomalies, apart from policy, he would be prepared to deal -with them.
