Greenwood intends racing there in tho spring, After running second in the First Steeplechase at the recent A.J.C. meeting, Ilautapu changed hands, and, on the second day, when he was successful, tho old gelding ran in the nomination of the ox-Auckland pencillcr, Mr. T. Tobias. The New Zealand jockey, R. Cameron, now rides regularly over fences ill Victoria, and, at Flemington, on June 3, he was up on Norley, who won tho hurdle race. On the same day, Cameron won a Hat race on a horse callcd Dure dans. On the first day of the Epsom (England) meeting last month, the French jockey G. Stern won three races in succession. One of these was on a two-year-old colt by Sunbridge, from Doris. This youngster is a brother to Sunstar, oil whom on the second day of tho same meeting Stern won the Derby. Questioned recently as to tho besHiorso he had ever ridden, Mark Ryan, without any preface, named Megaphone (in Australia) and Nonctto (in New Zealand). Sunstar's time for the English Derby was 2min. 3G 3-sscc., .which has only, once been beaten, lint being when Umberg won in 2min. 35 l-ssec. last year. Sunstar was bred by his owner, Mr. J. 13. Joel. The Masterton owner-trainer, M. T. M'Grath, is at present on a visit to Wellington to complete arrangements for the shipment of his team to Melbourne. Ilickey, trainer of Whakaweira, waß in Wellington on Saturday on a business visit, and returned to Hastings yesterday morning. He states that tho Great Noilheru Hurdles winner was none the worse for his exertions at Ellerslie, and, should nothing unforeseen occur in the meanwhile, he will bo a competitor at Hastings next week. The Australian-bred gelding Genius, who is a stable-mate of Los Angeles, wiU most likely accompany the flying chestnut on his trip to Randwick for the Spring meetings. . G. Price returned to Awapuni from Ellerslie yesterday. During tho progress of tho Auckland Racing Club's meeting, the \\ anganui trainer, A. Jackson, purchased Coromandel (MenschikofE—Golden Rose). Mr. F.'Leslie left Auckland for Sydney on Monday to see Wild -West and Irritation race. Tho Auckland noiseman, H. Deelev, has loft for Australin to rido tho horses named. Three other Auckland • jockcys-J. Deerey,. A. Gray, and K. Percival-loft for n trip to Sydney by yesterday's boat. Dogger Bank was sold in Auckland on Saturday for 120 guineas, the purchaser being Sir. J. Cliaafe, jnn. To \rai and Rosegrovo were schooled over tho big fences at Awapuni yester-. day morning. Tho champion chaser gave a finished exhibition, aud Rosegrove also negotiated tho fences in good style. The ex-New Zealand mnro Chantcusa (Merri wee—Can tat rice) recently won the Coronation Cup in Singapore, beating among others Silver Hampton, an Epsom • Handicap, winner. _ It transpires that Lord Kilcheran (lul-cheran-Fan Tan) had a very bad run when ho finished third behind Mala in the City Handicap .at Adclaido last month. On tho second flay of the meeting he started a warm • favourite in Uiß Norwood Handicap, seven furlongs, and duly won. Mr. G. P. Donnelly's Gold Thread was heavily backed in a race at tlao A.J .U. winter meeting, but sho again failed. Tho successful Ellerslio trainer, F. Macmanemin, was booked to leave Auckland vosterday on a holiday trip to Sydney and Melbourne. Monoform, sire of Apellon, is to bo taken across to Australia, and may bo offered at auction there.

Eight of the horses nominated for tho New Zealand Cup claim Birkenhead as sire.
