6 SPEECH BY LORD PLUNKET. By TctesrraDla-Preas Association-OoDyrleht (Rec. Juno 11, 5.5 p.m.) London, June 10. Lords Solborne and Hfildane paid high tributes to the work of the Victoria League nt the annual meeting at the Mansion House. Tho Countess of Jersey, Lady Crewe, and Ladies Northcote, Denman, and Talbot wero present. Numbers of overseas branches were represented at tho Conference. Lord Phinkot 6tated that persons with experienco of oversea peoples realised that sentiment was a tremendous factor in tho growth of the Imperial ideal and tho maintenance of a United Empire. Mrs. Rollett stated the New Zealand League was doing good work in assisting young Englishmen to fit themselves for a farmer's life. She pleaded for a more systematic method of welcoming immigrants. An English delegate suggested an interchange of teachers throughout the Empire. THE DELEGATES ENTERTAINED. London, June 9. Tho Countess of Jersey gave a garden party to the overseas Ministers and Victoria. League delegates at her residence, Osterley Park.
