(IYom Our Special OorrcsDondent.) 0 At St. James Hall, Lower Hutt, on Friday evening a concert, arranged by Airs. Natusch, wit'h the assistance of Mrs. Wilton, Messrs. Buckeridge, and J. F. Carr, was given by a party oJ Wellington and local vocalists and instrumentalists. There was a largo audience, which showed its appreciation of the items by demanding recalls. The stage was prettily decorated and the programme was one of the best that has been giv.en in Lower Hutt. Miss Maud Kingdon, who opened the concert with a pianoforte selection, was called upon for a second piece. Mrs. ■Wilson very sweetly sung "The Links o' Love," and responded with "A Bowl of Hoses." Mr. J. F. Carr, in a fine tenor voice, rendered a bracketed "Eeciuiem," and for an encore gave "I Know a Lovely Garden." Miss N. Natusch in "Sink Eed Sun" delighted the audience to such an extent that sho was called upon to respond with "When the Thrushes in My Garden." Mr. L. B. Buckeridge was heard to advantage in "Tho King's Minstrel," and responded with "A Hose." The vocal duet was well rendered, "Ring Out Wild Bells," by Miss N. Natusch and Mr. J. F. Carr. Mr. Stanley Natusch's interpretation of "Youth" was excellent, as was Miss Smith's "Norwegian Song." "Tho Admiral's Broom" by Mr. W. H. Church, was well received. Mrs. Natusch played the accompaniments and is to be congratulated for her excellent jvenihg. The proceeds will form a fund /or a presentation to Mr. W. Cross, layassistant cf the parish of St. James. Tho No-Liccnso .Council met on Friday evening, the Eev. 13. H. Ginger occupying the chair. Mr. Ginger was appointed to act in conjunction with tho organiser, Mr. Sussex, as a delegate to the Dominion No-License Convention, to be held in Wellington, in place of the Eev. Mr. Seamer, who would be unable to attend. Mr. J. Kerslake was welcomed as tho newlyappointed representative of the Petono 1.0. G.T. Hope of Petone Lodge. Eeferenco wa3 made to the bereavement that had come- to the president and his wife, and. sympathy was expressed with them. It is intended to try and arrange for a mass meeting to be held in Petone in a week's time. The Cantata "Britannia and Her Daughters," again nttracted a large house at King George Theatre, Lower Hutt. on Friday night , . The entertainment will be reproduced in the Palace Theatre, Petone ou Thursday evening.
