On (lie recommendation of its Special Committee the Borough Council has decided that a poll should be taken as soon as possible to raise the sum of <££000 for the purpose of reticulating the borough v.itli electric light, and that the council be authorised to expend a reasonable sum to assist in placing' the scheme before the ratepayers by advertisement, circular, or otherwise. Arrangement's are now complete for the ladies' class in first aid and ambulance work at the Technical School. The course of work, which will extend over fen weeks, is thar specified by the St. John Ambnlanr« Association, whose examination will be held at the close of the session. Between 20 and 30 students have signified their intention ot joining the class in veterinary science lo be held in connection witli the Feilding Technical School, under Mr. 'tt'iln.ot C. Quinnell.
