Westerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed northward of New Plymouth and Napier, but variable winds elsewhere, moderate south-easterlies predominating. Rain and cloudy weather are reported in most parts of the country. The barometer is lowest about Cook Strait. Present indications are for rain and stormy weather generally, westerly and southerly winds backing to northerly, and increasing strong to gale. A cyclonic disturbance now pas.*ing via Cook Strait will probably be followed roon by a westerly storm area, with very low pressure in the south. A southerly storm and much colder weather is due about Saturday evening. D. C. BATES. Meteorological Office, Wellington. June 8, 1911, DISTRICT REPORTS. (From Our Special Correspondents.)
