Mr. Mills, tho vice-president of tho Hearts of Oak Society, ill a speech at the society's annual conference, declared that tho members did not require tho Government to teach them thrift. It would be tho endeavour of the society's four hundred thousand members, with nearly four millions of money, to resist any inroads on their resources by any Government. Tho socicty resolved to • invite Mr. Lloyd-George, Chancellor of tho. Exchequer, to meet them, to discuss the National Insurance Bill. . , The Manchester Unity of Oddfellows have approved the National Insurance Bill, provided amendments are mode safeguarding friendly societies.
