FUNERAL OF LATE DEAN GINATY
IMPRESSIVE SCENE. (By ToleKraph.—Press Association,) Christchurch, Juno 7. Tho funeral of the lato Dean Giuaty, S.M., Vicnr-General of the Roman Catholic Dioccse of Christchurch, took place to-djiy. Before tho funeral procession left St. Mary's, Manchester Street North, a service was held there. At 9.30 a.m. the cortege proceeded (o the Cathedral in Barbadoes Street, where a solemn Pontifical Requiem Mass was celebrated by his Lordship Bishop Grimes in the presence of a very large congregation. The service was a lengthy and impressive one. \t Mass tho Very Rev. Dean Hegnault, S M., acted as assistant priest ; the Very Rev. Archdeacon Dcvoy, S.M., of Sontli Wellington, and the Very Rev. Dean O'Donnell, of Ashburton (two former curates of Dean Ginaty's when he was missionarv rector of Christchurch) acted as assistant priests at the Throne; the Rev. Fathers Uoare, S.M., and Dignan, S.M. (late curates to the Dean) were deacon and sub-deacon respectively of the -Mass. \mmigst the other clergy present were the Very Rev. Father O'Shea, S.M., V.G., of "Wellington; the Very Rev. Dean Bowers, of Geraldine; tho Very Rev. Father Tubman, S.M., of Timaru; tho Rev, Father Fay, S.M., of Teiuuka; the liev! Father Aubrey, S.M., of Waimate; the Rev. Father Richarus, of llawarden; Vnt'hers Ilviand and Loon, of Uangiora; Father Doull, S.M., of Lyttclton; Father Umietto. of Akaroa; leather Drolian, j| I, B of Darfield; Father Revlev, S.M., of' Bastings; Father Mnloney, S.M of Wnvanni; Father laylor, 0..M0t Jjoestoi't; "Father Bell, S.M., of Moint Magd>la; Fathers Graham. S.M., and Qumn, S M.,' of St. Bcde's College; the Very Rev. Father Price, Administrator of tho Dione'se; the Rev. Dr. Kennedy, and the Rev. Fathers M'Donnelt and Ilanrahan, of Christchurch Cathedral. . The funeral oration and eulogy of the deceased priest were delivered by his Grace Archbishop jßedwood, of Wellington.
