Dr. Johnston lias donated a handsome cornet to the Carterton Brass Band.
Mr. J. Standen has donated XI towards tlio funds of the Dale-field Hockey Club.
It is nndorstood that tlio Hon. .Tas. Carroll will be present at a Liberal "social" which is to be held here on Monday evening, and he ivill deliver a short address.
At a meeting of the Carterton troop of Boy Scouts on Tuesday evening one new member and two probationers were enrolled. A commencement was made with a series of bar-bell exercises, as a further means of physical culture. Instruction in semaphore signalling took up the remainder of the time. A church parade is to bo licld : oil Sunday. The Belvedere School Committal) have decided to hold a celebration at the school ground on the evening of Coronation bay. It has been arranged to give a fireworks display, progressive euchre tourney, and to finish with a dance. It was also decided to put on tableaux vivants in the school during tho evening.
