N.Z. DUCKLINGS IN LONDON.
POSSIBILITIES OF TEADE.
The London representative of a South Island, paper writes: "I have seen at West Siuithfiekl .samples of sonio New Zealand frozen ducklings. These were at the stall of Messrs. A". S. Juniper and Co., and very fine, birds they seemed to be. In view, however, of the possibilities in this trade, for there is ample opportunity for produce, if New Zealanders will only send it at tlie right time, some remarks may be useful. The packing was all that could be wished for, and the birds, from four,to five pounds, were a very presentablo article. There was, however, a lack of fresh, light, live appearance about the flesh, which might be remedied, as I should think it was probably duo to singeing, a practice that might be omitted by exporters. Nevertheless, the birds have been making rather better rates than similar European stuff. Should the present small consignments develop into a regular trade, the stuff must be in London to start in January and off by the end of May ,when home supplies come along._ By the way, I have been asked why New. Zealanders do not send more of the excellent chickens that they tried on the London market a year or two back. For those thero would be a rather longer range of season than for ducklings."
