OBITUARY.
Tho death occurred at Christehurch on Sunday, after a short illness, of the Very Hev. i)can Ginaty, Vicar-General of (he Homnn Catholic Diocese of Christchurcli. Dean Ginaly, who was 70 years of age, was born in Dublin, and camo to i\ew Zealand about 35 years ago. Ho was one of tho best-known figures in connection with the lioman Catholic Church in Christchnrch, and, in the early eighties was administrator of tho Order of Manst Fathers in tho pro-cathedral parish. Hfl did a "reat deal of work among the pool , of Chrislchurch. and in 1885 lie completed his arrangements, on which ho spent ii considerable amount of energy,- to found tho Mount Magdala Asylum for fallen l iniml ,,iry. hi the following year. on.
