Tho "Daily Telegraph," in an article endorsing the statement made in London by Mr. Batchelor, Australian Minister for External Affairs, that the Pacific Islands must eventually come under the control of Australia or New Zealand, says: "The Commonwealth will conio in contact with powerful.neighbours at every turn, and in view of an impending struggle for mastery in the Pacific, it is hardly likely any of them will evince an inclination to retire from vantago points already acquired. But nothing will be gained by refusing to look these responsibilities in the face."
