Referring to the "No Tcmere" decree issued by the Pope against mixed marriages, Cardinal Moran said the Churcl: dealt only vrith spiritual things, and ir carrying out God's law could not bo\i to the will of any Parliament. Whatevei the law of the land they lived in Catholics must, as regards the sacrameni of marriage, act in conformity with thf laws of the Church. The Church coulc guard the home, and its safeguard was the sacrament of marriage.
