HER CARGO DAMAGED. (By Tclecraph-Prese Association.) Auckland, Jimo b. An outbreak o! firo occurred late to nijjht in , the No. 2 hold of t\a Union Company's steumer Haiipiri, as she was bound for Gisbornc, Napier, and Wellington via Limestone Island. Tlio firo occurred between decks, and was first noticed by Captain Koss as the vessel was passing North Head. She was immediately put back to the Queen Slreet Wharf, and the City i'iro Brigade was summoned, the outbreak being subdued. The hold contained a quantity of genoral cargo, and several mail bags. Tlio latter were not damaged, though the cargo was, but to what extent is not known. , . . The Hiuipiri will remain in port until the damago sustained is ascertained.
