DETAILS EL HARBOUR LOAN. (By Telccraph—Special Correspondents Wanganui, June 3. To-day was observed as a close holiday, and beautiful weather prevailed. The Toport of the rommiftco re the Bill to be. promoted in Parliament authorising a loan for harbour extension was adopted as follows:—Rating area lo be the combined town district and counties of Wanganui and Waitolara; rate in the £ for the town area to bo double that of the country area; sinking fund to be helf per cent.; minimum flotation expenses and first year's interest to bo paid out of loan; engineer to prepare plans to accompany the Bill, and the board's, solicitors to draft it. The pilot reported a continued depth of 19 feet on tho bar, with 22ft. Gin. just inside, and a great improvement in berthage at C'nstlcclill'. The resident engineer reported that an addition of 80ft. had been made to the North Mole, leaving 200 ft. to complete. Pile-driving on the South Hole had now been finished, and onlv the stone required to be deposited. Of'this ISGO tans had been placed in position during the month. The dredge is to be given a month's work g in improving the river channel. Mr. Leslie Reynolds, the board's consulting engineer, was present, and discussed (lie harbour extension scheme with members in committee. His report is expected to some to hand during next week.
