IRISH CROCHET WORK.
A bedspread representing fourteen months of tlio most highly skilled labour was exhibited, in ■Melbourne recently.. Nothing'of the kind has been previously exhibitod, and vhilo it offers special points of interest to the members of tho 1-adv Carmichael Guild of Irish Crochet, embroiderers of all sorts will find in it much lo attract I hem. The spread has been made bv a Uallarat worker, and is as beautiful in design as it is perfect in execution. It measures eight feet square, and the Moral design in the centre is worked out in fine eyelet embroidery and buttonhole stilehing. ■ A broad band ot finest crochet in a classic design is inlet to form a square. Between his and tho deep crocheted border a wide band repea s tho embroidery in the middle, two pl-low-eovcrs match the spread, and go to form a >cl of the highes artistic men . The work shows what heights can be a - ttuncd in the highest branches of sliich- ; erv. and the ,£75 at which I is valued can hardly bo said to represent the whole of its worth.
