WOODVILLc. A special meeting of the Borough Council was held on Thursday evening to consider what steps should be taken to celebrate the Coronation, .and what memorial should be erected "that would receive the Government subsidy." It was resolved that, as far as the public celebrations were concerned, a public meeting be called for Monday night, and that the council donate c £lo towards any funds raised; also, that the County Council be asked to do the same. Several suggestions 'were made os to the erection of a suitable memorial, and, finally, that of Councillor Nicholas was adopted, viz., the erection of an up-to-date fire brigade station. Mr. Latham waited upon the council, submitting plans of various town halls that have recently been erected, and urging the council to make a decision in favour of erecting a town hall.
