The Baths and Reserves Committee recommended :— That the gully, a portion of Town Belt at Cottloville Terrace, bo included in the l'arfc, and notices erected warning persons not to deposit rubbish there. That steps be taken to prevent persons making a short cut across the grass at Anderson Park. That a vote of thanks be passed to the Wellington Zoological Society for the valuable assistance rendered to the Zoo during the past year. Road, Mataitai, in accordance with the. regulations approved by the council and the satisfaction of tho City Engineer. That authority 1)8 given for the construction of a new street off Derwent Street, Island Bay, iu accordance with the regulations approved by the council, and to the satisfaction of the City Engineer. That permission bo granted to Messrs. Crichton and Jl'Kay to construct pavement light; in i''cathcrjton Street for the Royal Insurance Compnny subject to the conditions imposed by the City. Engineer. —Adopted. In a second report the By-Laws Committee recommended that the following draft by-iaws be approved:— Hours of closing rifle siuoon?, license fees for rifle saloons, carriage of. pig-swill, motor-cars-following tram-carriages, duties of owner in respect to sanit-iry fittings, dogs in Botanical Gardens and Newtown Park, supply of electricity for lighting and power purposes. That the Government be asked if they will undertake the work of a survey of Vo;'elto«u, and furnish an estimate of tho cost, and also whether they will bo prepared to contribute towards same, as recommended by the City Engineer. That the lioseneath and Oriental Bay Municipal Association be informed that tho council cannot see its way to asphalt, the streets in the outlying districts until the drainage and water connections have been completed. ~,-•' That the Brightlands Syndicate be informed that the council cannot ;ee its way to form Melrosc Street a'c present. That the council place a sum of money on the estimates for the improvement ot Old Military Road. ' That the deputation which waited upon them be informed that an amount has been placed on the eslimntes for improvements to be carried out .a., h. «• Hills Rnad. but that the council do no. pledge themselves to carry out the work until a thorough survey has been made.— Adopted. '
