NAVY LEAGUE.

The following letter has. been addressed to schoolmasters by the secretary of the Navy, League (Mr. Cecil Palmer):— "Dear Sir,—The subject for this year's Naval History Essay Competition is to bo "Our Nnvy During the Tudor Period." As on former, occasions, it is proposed to leave the arrangenient of details to the discretion of the individual headmasters. The names of tho most deserving candidates—say, 10 per cent, of the totalshould bo sent in not kiter than the first week in October. "Captain E. \V. Weniyss, E.N., has kindly invited the juvenile members of tho league to. visit his ship in about a fortnight's time. Tho trip is to be confined to members who have paid this year's subscription; and tho exact date will be notified later."
