General Monier, the French Comraan-der-iii-Chief, has had a further conference with Mulai ITafid, who asks that p-, French troops may remain to garrison Fez, and that a similar number shall 1» stationed at Mekinez. The Sultan declares that the. withdrawal of the French force will be the signal for a revolution. It is certain that neither the Europeans nor the Sultan will remain when the French leave. Colonel Gourand's column, with General Dalbiez's column, which went from Fez to assist Colonel Gournnd, reached Fez i'on May 26, after heavy fighting.
