HANGMAN RESIGNS.
A LANGUISHING INDUSTRY. By Telegraph-Press Association-Oopyriprhl (Rec. May 31, 10.31 p.m.) Sydney, May 31. Questions in the Legislative Assembly elicited the fact that the public hangman, whose salary is .£IOO per annum with an allowance of ,£lO for eacli execution, has resigned his position, presumably as there has been no call for his professional services. Since the present Government took office seven death sentences have come before the Executive, all of which havo been commuted.
