THE APPROACHING HOLIDAY.

LITTLE UNANIMITY IN TOWN,

It seems likely that tho King's Birthday (Saturday next) will bo a holiday of a half-and-half character. Factories and shops working under awards will close on Saturday, and tho holiday will also be observed by banks, warehouses, and similar institutes, but a great many small shops will jTemaia open. The Labour Department has been approached' during the last day or two by a number of traders who do not seem to know exactly how they stand in regard to the approaching holiday. On the whole, it seems that a section of flie public will make holiday on Saturday, while another section will pursue its ordinary avocations.
