SAILORS' REST.

CONTRIBUTORS' ANNUAL MEETING. •The annual meeting of contributors to tho Wellington Sailors' Rest, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs. T. Smith, D. M'Laren, M.1 , .,- W. Ferguson, W. E. A. Gill, and C. W. Jones. Mr. A. V. Monro presided. Mr. Ferguson remarked that tho bal-ance-sheet bore, a number of names as those of committeemen who had not qualified by donating ss. per year, as provided by the rules. Apparently only three or four members of the committee had contributed to the funds of. tho institution. _. The secretary, Mr, Gill, stated that it was difficult to get members to act upon •tho-committee; Somo members who had not contributed had the alternative cause of collecting £1 in small sums. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Tho recommendation of the committee, that i;3O bo placed upon , fixed deposit, was approved. On Ihe motion of Mr. M'Laren, the contributors agreed to place on record their appreciation of , the services -rendered by Captain Bouner. ' . Messrs. D. M'Laren, M.P., F. Townsend, and F. G. Bolton were re-elected to the committee. Messrs., Cerrctty, Bayfield, Renner, Gamble, and J. Fuller, jun. wero elected as new members. It was decided that the Rev T. H. Sprott (Bishop-elect of Wellington) he asked to accept membership upoa the committee.
