RIFLE SHOOTING.
» EASTBOURNE RIFLE CLUB. Tho annual social gathering of the members of the Eastbourne Rifio Club was held on Saturday night. Councillor R. L. Button presided, in the absence of Mr. 11. W. Shortt, Mavor of Eastbourne, Presi'.lent nobbs, ami Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P. In presenting the trophies, the chairman remarked that since the opening of the "Wilford Range," on the heights above tho borough, the club had constructed a range near at hand, on Dr. Mackenzie's property, right within the borough, not far from Rona Wharf. For long-distance shooting the club fired at Gollan's Valley. The club's career ha'.l been one of active progress, and it was now 47 strom*. Thanks were accorded to Dr. Mackenzie and Mr. J. B. Cooper for the use of shooting grounds. Tho prizes awarded to the successful competitors in last season's matches were presented.
MORRIS TUBE ASSOCIATION. The Wellington Morris Tube Association has now been definitely formed, anil a. range secured, situated in Luke's Lane. The range is available for clubs. Six targets are_ provided, with the necessary markers, arid the official opening will take place in a few days. Secretaries of clubs should send in their nominations at .once for the senior and junior shield competitions. The association will give an aggregate gold medal for each competition. It is expected that twenty or more teams of 10 will be competing.
