A SUBURBAN PROTEST, A meeting of representatives of ban municipal electors' associations was hold last evening villi a view to making an organised protest ngainst the proposal to reduce the minimum air-space requirement in the suburban districts of the city from 2000 'to 1000 feat. Mr. A. Leigh. Hunt (president of the. llataitai Association) presided over an attendance o£ twelve representatives. Letters were received from tho 'Wndostown, liroolclyu, Northland, Kclburuo, Ha-' taitai and \ogeltown Associations heartily sympathising with the objects of tho meeting. ' . . in tne course of a discussion which took place many arguments wcro advanced in favour of fixing a minimum frontage as tho only preventive of tho creation of slum areas. . Eventually it was agreed that a deputation should wait upon the City Council at its meeting on Thursday evening next and lay before it the following resolution, adopted unanimously, on tho motion of Mr. U. D. Edwards (Hataitai), Mr. A. Wylie (Wadcstown) seconding:— That tho present minimum of 2000 superficial feet of air spaco bo maintained, and that a minimum frontage of 40 feet be fixed as a general standard, the council to reservo the right to vary this provision in special circumstances or where tho configuration of tho land offers prcculiar difficulties-.
