BRISBANE GAS DISPUTE.
GENERAL STRIKE THREATENED. By Telegraph.—Press Association— Copyricht (Kcc. May 29, 0.35 a.m.) Brisbane, May 28. At a meeting of representatives of fortysix trade unions the situation in connection with the gas strike was disewsscd. It was resolved that, unless a favourable reply was received from the Premier, Mr. Eenhani, with regard to the proponed conference, the only practicable solution of the trouble was a general strike. Both the gas companies have considered tho suggested conference, but their replies to the Premier have not yet been disclosed.
